Changing/Updating your Maiden Name to your Married Name on a Gun Trust

When you originally setup and created your revocable NFA gun trust you may have added your soon to be spouse to your NFA gun trust under her or his maiden name.  However, what do you do now that you are now married and your spouse has changed their last name from their maiden name to their married name?  When your spouse changes their last name from their maiden name to their married name, this is considered to be a significant life event.  In terms of your NFA gun trust you have a few options to update your NFA gun trust paperwork.  You can either amend your trust to update their name in your NFA gun trust to their married name or you can restate your NFA gun trust to update their name in your NFA gun trust to their married name in your trust.  The way you would amend your NFA gun trust to update the last name of your spouse on your NFA gun trust will depend on how your trust amendments are written.  If you don't want to amend your trust, you can simply restate your NFA gun trust to update your spouse's last name.  Both are valid ways to update your spouse's last name on your NFA gun trust paperwork.  The expense involved with amending your NFA gun trust may vary depending who you got your NFA gun trust through.  If you have ordered your NFA gun trust through us, then you already have the amendments needed to remove your spouse's maiden name and add them to the NFA gun trust with their married name.  Other NFA gun trust companies or attorneys may charge for this amendment(s).  The expense involved to restate your NFA gun trust with our NFA Gun Trust Restatement service is $59.95 and your NFA gun trust is restated the same day.  If you have any questions regarding this subject, you can reach out to us via email here.
